Raised on a farm near Arrowtown, I grew up surrounded by mountains, water and nature. I have always loved the camera and after some years working in the computer/IT world, I realised the natural symbiosis between photography, art and the digital revolution.
I have been creating fine art from photography for over 10 years recording the way I view natural NZ and how I want to interpret those scenes. My photo-composite works use multiple images from my own library of photos. Harnessing the power of each separate image by digitally composing layers, colours, light and shadow, I attempt to unlock the full potential of artistic storytelling in one final image. At times, I use acrylic paint and glazes to bring an added element of mixed media and texture to the work. My current art explores Climate Change, where I seek to show both the beauty and fragility of nature using Composite Photo Artistry. With a hint of the surreal and moody, I strive to create a questioning tone using crisp colour saturation and sometimes oversized elements, such as birds, to convey the complex message of what our future could hold. |
