Priscilla Clare was born in rural NSW, Australia in 1984 and has always had a strong connection to nature. She graduated with a degree in Creative and Professional Writing in 2012 but soon after, found herself drawing landscapes while spending a summer in Queenstown New Zealand, which she now calls home. She was the winner in the ‘Best Landscape’ category of the 2020 Craigs Aspiring Art Prize and also won the commended award in the Queenstown Art Society 2019 Art Awards. She is a keen tramper and mountain biker, often seen carrying a sketchbook on her trips. Her practice is about translating her experience of place using vibrant colour blended with aspects of realism and altered perspectives to capture the New Zealand landscape. She can be found out on the trails or in her studio at the Queenstown Arts Centre. |
